Three Reasons You Should Write Essays Even if you're Not in School

It wasn't until I was older that I discovered essays could be interesting, thought-provoking, and life-changing.

You won't believe it until you discover one for yourself. And when you do, you'll be angry for not being told sooner.
For having wasted so much time in school trying to minimize your ideas and stuff watered-down thoughts into five paragraphs.

Use essay writing to clarify your thoughts and influence others.

Although you probably won't write an essay in response to a social media post, you've probably scrolled social media and wished you could articulate your opinion on the topic at hand.

Problem is, it's hard to know what you think if you don't sit down and think it through. Writing real-world essays will help. Here's why.

Reason #1.  Brainstorming brings your true thoughts to light.

The writing process starts with brainstorming, which is great for figuring out what you're thinking.
When you take a few minutes to write all your ideas about the topic, you'll see themes emerge.

Group similar thoughts and compose a single idea that represents those thoughts.

Now you've got a clear direction for your essay (or comment).

Reason #2. Looking at all sides of an issue helps you form an informed opinion.

Look at your topic and ask yourself what you really think about that topic.

Sit back in your chair, close your eyes, and in your mind's eye, have an argument. Ask yourself why you should agree with the topic. Why should you disagree? Allow yourself to see both sides. Decide which side you're on and why.

Reason #3. Expanding your thinking can strengthen weak arguments.

During a heated vocal debate, you may be able to pound your opinion by brute force. While planning your essay, you'll quickly notice weak arguments because your outline will be sparse. You'll clearly see where you need to dig deeper to find better reasons and examples to support your opinion. In the process, you'll find yourself thinking beyond the surface. Because of this, you'll better understand the real issues and be more confident in your opinion.

I dare you to write a short essay today. It'll only take 60-90 minutes to clarify and expand your thinking while developing a reasoned opinion on a meaningful topic. What topic will you write about? makes it easy to get it done with guided templates every step of the way.
